Expect More Shaking!

I’ve posted twice on this theme already this year, but when you hit the theme for the year on the head, you might as well run with it.

On January 7, I wrote an article (see it HERE) about the fact that the Lord had told us he was about to shake things up. At that time I wrote:

“When I hear about God shaking something up, I wonder just what type of shaking we are discussing. Some shake ups are political, some are economic, some are literal shakings in the earth (earthquakes).”

We have had severe economic shaking (with more to come). We have had major earthquakes in New Zealand and now in Japan. We have also had political shake ups going on even to this day. Things are certainly being shaken  up. Expect more.

Bob Jones saw the Japanese earthquake over twenty years ago. At that time he saw the nuclear issues surrounding it (Bob spoke of a mushroom cloud connected with Japan). I think we can safely say that this event is the one Bob saw.

When the Lord showed Bob the Japanese earthquake, he also showed him that it would initiate further financial shaking. He also saw that it would precede some severe earthquakes in the United States. As a result of Bob’s prophecy, which Rick has known about for years, Rick has called on Christians to begin praying for California and the northwest United States. We must intercede because of the times in which we live. The times that we knew were coming, are here. When God speaks of shaking, things really do shake.

When I wrote the post on shaking, I also added God’s promise. He said, “The shaking will not come near your tent.”

I think we need to grab on to that promise whenever things are shaking. We also need to listen closely to the Lord so that we are prepared when things shake. Pay attention. He wants his people to survive and thrive during these times.

What’s Up With Cuba

Cuba has been isolated from the United States for over fifty years since Fidel Castro and his regime took over the Cuban government. Since Castro’s earliest years, Cuban Americans have longed for the day when his dictatorial regime fades into history. Over the years they have done what they could do to shorten Castro’s days, with no real success.

To this day, Cuban Americans look with longing for the day when Cuba will be free. Many Cuban Christians have prayed for the day when Cuba once again opens its doors, not only to freedom, but also to the free proclamation of the gospel of Jesus Christ. That day may soon be upon us.

In November of 2004, the Lord spoke to me about Cuba. He did it through a dream in which I was listening to a conversation about Cuba and savings bonds. The gist of the dream was that Cuban savings bonds were worth nothing in the United States. However, if you invested eight dollars in a U.S. savings bond, you would get ten dollars back. When I woke up from the dream, I recorded it on a memo recorder, and added that I understood that the Lord was showing me that Cuba would open up in seven years.

When I awoke that morning and played back the voice memo, I wondered about my confident assertion that Cuba would be open in seven years. I was not aware of any movement in this arena, and apart from Fidel Castro’s death, I didn’t see how Cuba could be free. But because I was familiar with how the Lord speaks to me in dreams, I pursued the Lord about this dream.

Part of the pursuit involved looking up U.S. Savings Bonds. I wanted to determine how long it would take for an eight-dollar investment to become ten dollars at the current interest rate. As I investigated, I found that the interest rate on that day, the 10th of November 2004, was 3.25%. I’m certainly not an investment counselor, but I know enough to be able to figure simple interest by hand. I also used a software program to double-check my accounting acumen. The software program agreed with my rudimentary calculations. At 3.25% interest, eight dollars would be worth exactly ten dollars in November 2011; exactly seven years from the time I had the dream.

So, I understand what the Lord did. He allowed me to tap into a bizarre discussion about Cuba in a dream one night. As I was waking up he spoke into my spirit that this discussion meant that Cuba would be open in seven years. Then he confirmed it all by using simple math from numbers given in the dream.

Right now, in South Florida, many from the Cuban Christian community are asking the Lord for a word on Cuba. They have increased expectation that Cuba will soon be open. What did not look possible back in 2004 is beginning to look possible and perhaps even probable. It is an exciting time.

I have been looking forward to this year ever since I had a bizarre dream encounter back in November 2004. Over the years I have shared my expectation that Cuba would open by November 2011. Now that year is upon us, I am looking forward eagerly to what is going on in Cuba.

The Bible is clear that we only know in part (see 1 Corinthians 13:9). So I do not believe that I have the definitive or final word on Cuba. I am also eager to hear what God has been giving to his prophetic people. MorningStar Ministries is hosting a prophetic roundtable the second week of March at my congregation. Rick Joyner will be with us as we seek the Lord about Cuba and many other things. I hope it will add much clarity to what I already know as the prophets come together.

Will you join with me and pray that Cuba opens up this year? Can we confidently call upon the Lord of all nations to fulfill the confident expectations of his people this year? I believe we can.

Miracle on 34th Street

On Sunday night, the original version of Miracle on 34th Street played on TMC network. I can imagine that there were many people who wondered what in the world was going on. People who tuned to TMC that night may have expected to encounter a romantic comedy or some other Valentine Eve movie flirting with the themes of true love. Of all the love stories they might have imagined seeing, I can’t imagine that many would have thought they would see a Christmas story on February 13th.

What was TMC thinking?

I don’t know what they were thinking, but I can tell you that those members of New Dawn congregation who saw it on Sunday night knew that God was speaking through it.

Two weeks ago I announced to the congregation that we were planning to move our congregation to a new location in Coral Springs. We have been in our current location for fifteen years, and although it is hidden from the community, it has been a good home for us. But now the Lord has made it abundantly clear that it is time to move out into a more visible location. So, two weeks ago, I announced that we were planning to move to Sample Road in Coral Springs, to a very visible new location. We had reached agreement on a lease with the owner of the building. So, after a Sunday service, I outlined our plans to the congregation.

That Sunday evening I had our leadership team at my home to receive ministry from a prophetic friend of mine. During that meeting, my prophetic friend received a text message from another friend who lives in the Charlotte, North Carolina area. That text message said, “Tell Randy that the Lord said there is a miracle on 34th Street.” Neither my prophetic friend, nor the mutual friend in Charlotte, knew anything about our plans to relocate our congregation. Because I know how the Lord speaks, and because of the morning’s announcement about the move, I immediately assumed that Sample Road must also be called 34th Street. I’ve never heard it called 34th Street. There are no signs that say it is 34th Street. But I knew it must be 34th Street. So I quickly checked the Maps app on my iPhone, and found that Sample Road is indeed 34th Street on the GPS application. I checked several other GPS applications, including Google Earth, and got the same result. Sample Road is 34th Street.

You can imagine how encouraged I was by this prophetic word. I felt the Lord’s endorsement of our move. I don’t know all the implications of this endorsement, but I do know that something about this move will release miracles on 34th Street.

When the lease was delayed over the course of the next two weeks, I was able to hold on to the prophetic word and stay in rest. I knew that the Lord had spoken. I knew we would see the miracle on 34th Street. Finally, on February 11th, last Friday, we received the signed lease. When I held up the lease this past Sunday morning in our meeting, everyone cheered. They understood the miracle on 34th Street had begun.

Then, on Sunday night TMC played the original version of Miracle on 34th Street.

I don’t know why TMC chose to play Miracle on 34th Street. But I believe I know what it meant.

It’s Almost a Quarter of Ten

I was in a study meeting this past Tuesday evening, when the Lord decided to reveal some things to us about what he is doing. One of the people in attendance began to share a dream that she had recently had. The dream was about needing to be someplace at 10:00 AM, but she was not yet ready and it was quarter to ten. The dream was about preparation, growth in Christian character, and the opposition to these things that God’s people experience as they step into his plan for them.

As we discussed the dream and its applications, Dawn got my attention and reminded me that a couple of weeks ago the Lord had told us to watch what happens at quarter to ten. Now I was really intrigued because of the connection between the two things. As we chewed over what “a quarter of/to ten” might mean, someone wondered if it might be speaking about October. Then another person added that October starts a new quarter of the year (a quarter beginning with ten).

As I listened to the discussion, the Lord dropped something into my spirit. I realized that if Rosh Hashanah (the Jewish New Year) ushered in the fourth quarter of this year, that we probably had the right interpretation of what God was saying to us. I remembered that Rosh Hashanah fell in early September of this past year, but I also know that it moves around our calendar. So I checked my handy iPhone calendar, which I had previously loaded with Jewish holidays, and found that Rosh Hashanah ended at sundown on September 30, and that October 1 started at sundown of that same day (according to biblical/Jewish reckoning, the next day always starts at sundown). So the Jewish new year is ushered in at the end of the third quarter and the beginning of the fourth quarter (a quarter of ten).

Since I had been given this insight into Rosh Hashanah’s date through revelation, and since it was confirmed by the calendar, I knew that we had hit on the correct interpretation of what God was communicating through using this clock metaphor.

Anyone who is experienced in working with God’s parables/metaphors, whether they occur in the Bible, dreams, or other communications, can appreciate how God led us forward in this search for understanding. According to Proverbs 25:2, “It is the glory of God to conceal a matter; to search out a matter is the glory of kings.” God has built truth into his metaphors and similes because it releases his glory into our relationship as we determine that the search for understanding is worth our effort.

In this particular instance, I believe the Lord is telling us to watch what happens beginning with the Jewish New Year this year. It is something for which we must prepare by continued Christian growth, no matter what the opposition to that growth is. It will be something important for the people of God.

Watch what happens at a quarter of ten.

Shaking Things Up!

Just when you thought things couldn’t get any more shaken, this little tidbit. Dawn heard the Lord tell her that he was about to shake things up, but that it would not come near her tent.

Well, that is exciting.

When I hear about God shaking something up, I wonder just what type of shaking we are discussing. Some shake ups are political, some are economic, some are literal shakings in the earth (earthquakes). Sometimes the “shaking up” is just the Lord filling his people so full of His Spirit that we literally fizz over with his presence.

However, in this case, I’m not thinking that positively. That last little promise that it would not come near her tent implies that it is not something you would want to happen near your tent.

So, let’s let Dawn represent the Body of Christ that is pursuing the Lord. “Why?” you ask. Because Isaiah 60 reminds us that kings will come to the brightness of the dawn of the Body of Christ. That’s why. Dawn often represents those upon whom God’s glory is appearing, in other words, His Body. If she does represent the Body of Christ, then the message is a message of peace. No matter what shakings happen in 2011, His peace can rest on us. That works for me.

If you make the Most High your dwelling—
even the LORD, who is my refuge—
then no harm will befall you,
no disaster will come near your tent.
(Psalm 91:9-10 NIV)
